Is It Time For That Fat Burning Workout?

Fat burning workouts are at the core of a lifestyle that will promote a sense of well being in all areas of your life. These workouts can be designed to target specific areas of the body, but are usually more appropriately used to keep the whole body fit. Therefore, you should include exercises for all parts of the body in your workout.
In order to be a truly fat burning workout, you must expect to spend more than 20 minutes of continuous aerobic exercise. The reason for this is that as you begin your routine your body uses the most easily available fuel — excess carbs. After approximately 20 minutes of exercise the carbs are gone and the body will go for the fat next. The best news is that once the body is running on fat fuel, it will continue to do so for up to six hours after you have stopped exercising!
The best fat burning exercises are slower, aerobic, longer duration types that involve most of the major muscle groups. The residual effect of this type of aerobic exercise gives you the most benefits. It is also true that low intensity exercise uses more fat as fuel. As a bonus, aerobic exercise also strengthens your heart and cardiovascular system, lowers blood pressure and improves cholesterol levels. “Aerobic” points to the efficacy of oxygen as the body uses it during prolonged exercises.
Fat burning exercises include walking, jogging and running, elliptical exercise trainer workouts, cycling and swimming. By doing just twenty minutes of fat burning exercise you get those fat burning enzymes working. Home treadmills and elliptical exercise trainers are perfect for fat burning exercise.
Exercises that involve lower impact to hips, knees, and feet include yoga, swimming, and walking.
Try to set three days a week as a goal for your fat burning workouts and increase to five days as your become more fit. One key to the best fat burning workouts is to make them fun. And nothing beats exercising with a friend!
Most of these fat burning exercises can be done at home, but if going to the gym will help make exercise a regular habit, by all means do so. With winter weather often making an outdoor workout difficult or impossible the gym or a home treadmill allow you to walk anytime of the year.
